STILLWATER, Okla. – Markel Brown scored 27 points and Marcus Smart had 24, helping help No. 11 Oklahoma State beat Texas 87-74 on Wednesday night.
Phil Forte added 14 points for the Cowboys (13-2, 1-1 Big 12), who shot 54 percent from the field in the second half after struggling early.
Demarcus Holland had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Damarcus Croaker scored 12 points for the Longhorns (11-4, 0-2).
Oklahoma State, which entered averaging 86 points, eventually overwhelmed the Longhorns.
With Oklahoma State coaching great Eddie Sutton in attendance, the Cowboys bounced back from Saturday’s loss at Kansas State.
